Leadership

American DG Energy Inc. was founded and is managed and directed by individuals with extensive experience in all aspects of energy supply and utilization. Our Founding Contributor and Co-Chief Executive Officer, Dr. George N. Hatsopoulos and Dr. John N. Hatsopoulos, respectively, were co-founders of Thermo Electron Corporation which is now Thermo Fisher Scientific (NYSE:TMO).

Dr. John N. Hatsopoulos - Co-Chief Executive Officer

John Hatsopoulos has been the Chief Executive Officer of the Company since its inception in 2000. He is also Co-Chief Executive Officer of Tecogen Inc., a leading manufacturer of natural gas, engine driven commercial and industrial cooling and cogeneration systems. Dr. Hatsopoulos was the President, Chief Financial Officer and Vice Chairman of the Board of Thermo Electron Corporation which is now Thermo Fisher Scientific (NYSE:TMO). John Hatsopoulos innovated and implemented numerous financial strategies that became the focus of worldwide interest. His spinout strategy resulted in 24 public companies and Thermo Electron and its subsidiaries were able to raise close to $5 billion of capital. Mr. Hatsopoulos graduated from Athens College in Athens, Greece. He holds a B.S. in history and mathematics from Northeastern University, together with Honorary Doctorates in Business Administration from Boston College and Northeastern University.

Benjamin Locke - Co-Chief Executive Officer

Benjamin Locke is Co-Chief Executive Officer of American DG Energy. He is also Co-Chief Executive Officer of Tecogen.  Prior to joining American DG Energy, Mr. Locke served as the General Manager for Tecogen and was instrumental in increased sales, new business development and overall execution of corporate growth strategy.  Prior to joining Tecogen, Mr. Locke held the position of Director of Business Development at Metabolix and was responsible for partnerships, joint ventures and acquisitions in the clean energy arena. Mr. Locke has a B.S. in Physics from the University of Massachusetts, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University, and an MBA in Corporate Finance from Boston University.

Bonnie Brown - Chief Financial Officer

Bonnie Brown is Chief Financial Officer of American DG Energy. Prior to joining American DG Energy, Ms. Brown served as the Chief Financial Officer for Tecogen and was instrumental in successfully taking Tecogen public. Ms. Brown is a senior level executive with over 20 years of hands-on experience in finance, management, tax and business leadership.  She earned a B.S. in Accountancy from Bentley College, a M.S. in Computer Information Systems from Boston University, and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

George Hatsopoulos
Dr. George N. Hatsopoulos

George N. Hatsopoulos was the Chairman of the Board since the organization of the Company in July 2001 until April 2, 2012.  He was the founder and CEO of Pharos, LLC, an organization devoted to the creation of leading edge business ventures, and since 2000 he was a director of Tecogen Inc., an affiliate of the Company, until 2015.  He was the founder and Chairman emeritus of Thermo Electron Corporation, which is now Thermo Fisher Scientific (NYSE: TMO), and served as Chairman and CEO since its founding in 1956 until his retirement from those positions in 1999.  Dr. Hatsopoulos has served on the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, including a term as Chairman.  He was a member of the Securities and Exchange Commission Advisory Committee on Capital Formation and Regulatory Process, the Advisory Committee of the U.S. Export-Import Bank, and the boards of various corporations and institutions.  Dr. Hatsopoulos is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and other scientific and technical organizations. He is the recipient of numerous honors and awards in engineering, science, industry and academics, has authored over 60 articles in professional journals, and is the principal author of textbooks on thermodynamics and thermionic energy conversion.  Dr. Hatsopoulos has been a faculty member and senior lecturer at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, or MIT.  Dr. Hatsopoulos holds bachelors, masters and doctorate degrees from MIT – all in mechanical engineering.
